What it is like to work here
We are a hands-on studio, so the work is practical and varied. One day may involve mounting artwork for a family home in Johannesburg, the next may be a batch of ready-made frames for a gallery in Cape Town or a mirror frame for a client in Durban. The pace can be steady and the details matter.
Our team works closely together under Sipho Maseko, with support from the studio, production and client care sides of the business. We value people who are reliable, careful with materials and comfortable speaking to customers in a helpful way. This is not a sit still and wait kind of job. It suits people who like making things look right the first time.
Roles we often hire for
We do not post a long vacancy list here, but we do hire for a range of roles as the studio grows. That can include front-of-house advice, production support, finishing, installation and client service work. Some roles are customer facing, while others are focused on cutting, fitting and packing.
- Framing and finishing assistants
- Mount cutting and glazing support
- Artwork and mirror installation helpers
- Client care and order coordination
- Design consultation support
- Collection, delivery and workshop assistance
Experience helps, but attitude matters too. If you are precise, organised and willing to learn, there may be room for you. We work with wood, glass, canvas and artwork that often cannot be replaced, so care is essential.
Skills that suit our studio
People who do well here usually have good practical judgement, steady hands and respect for deadlines. Some work is custom, some is repeat production, and both need attention. We also deal with load-shedding, dust and humidity, so a calm approach and good habits around packing and storage help a lot.
- Good measuring and cutting accuracy
- Interest in craftsmanship and presentation
- Clear communication with customers and teammates
- Ability to follow instructions and keep records tidy
- Care with fragile items, glass and artwork
- Willingness to travel for installations when needed
How to apply for a career at Bright Frames
If you would like to be considered, please send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and mention the type of work you are interested in. If you have framing experience, installation experience or a background in retail, production or studio work, include that in your message. We read each enquiry ourselves.
When a suitable opening comes up, we look for people who can fit into a small team and work with care from start to finish. If you have samples of previous work, a short note about what you have done can be useful. A neat CV helps, and so does a clear explanation of where you are based and whether you can work in Parkhurst or travel for jobs in Pretoria, Midrand, Sandton, Rosebank, Cape Town or Durban.
Why people stay with us
Framing is detailed work, and the best people enjoy seeing a job come together properly. There is satisfaction in turning a print, painting, photograph or mirror into something that sits well in a room and lasts. Our team also gets to work with a wide mix of customers, from home owners to galleries and interior suppliers, which keeps the work interesting.
We aim to be fair, practical and organised. That means clear instructions, proper handling of materials and respect for everyone in the studio. If you want to build skills in a trade that combines design, measuring and fine finish work, Bright Frames may be a good place to grow.
Our service areas and the work we do
Although our base is in Parkhurst, Johannesburg, our service area reaches across South Africa. That includes Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand, Sandton, Rosebank, Cape Town and Durban. The work can involve custom framing, ready-made advice, mount cutting, canvas stretching, frame repairs, reframing, glass replacement, artwork installation, gallery hanging, collection and delivery, design consultation and mirror framing.
Because of that range, we need people who can switch between careful studio tasks and practical on-site work. If that sounds like the sort of team you would like to join, send your CV through the contact page and tell us a bit about yourself.
