Start with the piece you want framed
Bring in the artwork, photograph, jersey, certificate or mirror you want framed, or send clear details through the enquiry form on our contact page. We use the information to understand the size, condition, finish and where it will hang, so the first discussion is practical from the start.
It helps to know whether the piece will live in a lounge, passage, office, gallery wall or coastal home. Humidity in Durban, strong sun in many Johannesburg rooms and dusty conditions near busy roads can all affect the material choice, glazing and mount selection.
- Share the item size in millimetres or centimetres if you know it
- Tell us if the room gets direct sun or strong afternoon light
- Let us know if you want a classic, slim, modern or gallery look
Choose a consultation that fits your project
Some projects need a quick guide on ready-made frames, while others need a full custom framing discussion. During the consultation we compare frame profiles, mount colours, glazing options and hanging methods, then narrow the choices to what suits your piece and budget.
If you are framing for a home in Sandton, a school in Pretoria or a gallery in Cape Town, we can also help with repeat framing for a series. That keeps the look consistent across multiple works, which is useful for exhibitions and corporate spaces.
- Custom framing for one-off artwork or keepsakes
- Ready-made advice for quicker turnaround
- Mirror framing, canvas stretching and reframing support
What happens during the booking request
Once you submit the enquiry form, our team reviews the details and comes back with the next step. We may ask for extra photos, measurements or a quick note about the finish you are after. If the piece is fragile, oversized or already damaged, we will say what to bring along and how best to transport it.
Sipho Maseko, our Managing Director, and the studio team use the request to make sure the right specialist is assigned. That means your consultation is handled by people who know mounting, repairs, glass replacement and installation, not just general advice.
- Tell us if the item needs repair before framing
- Upload or describe any existing frame you want to keep
- Mention if collection and delivery would help with a large piece
Preparing for your appointment
A little preparation saves time and helps us give clear advice. If the artwork is valuable, sentimental or signed, bring any notes you have about its origin or previous framing. For a mirror or canvas, measure the visible area and the outer size if you can. Even a rough measurement is useful, and it avoids guesswork later.
If you are coming from Parkhurst, Rosebank or Sandton, pop in during a quieter time if you want to compare several frame options at your pace. For clients outside Johannesburg, we can still work through the details by enquiry and arrange the right next step for the region.
How we handle homes, galleries and business spaces
Different spaces need different framing decisions. A gallery wall in Midrand may need a neutral line that keeps focus on the artwork, while a family home in Pretoria may need a warmer timber tone that works with the rest of the room. We guide you on what will hold up, look tidy and fit the wall properly.
For commercial spaces, exhibitions and collections, we also think about repeatability, safety and maintenance. If the piece will move between venues, we can suggest a frame and glazing combination that is easier to handle and less likely to mark during transport. That sort of planning matters when deadlines are tight and the install date cant slip.
After the consultation: confirming the job
Once you are happy with the direction, we confirm the final choices and begin production. If changes are needed after the meeting, we can adjust the mount, frame or glazing before work starts. That keeps the finished result aligned with your display goals and avoids unnecessary rework.
Our Parkhurst studio serves clients across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand, Sandton, Rosebank, Cape Town and Durban. Whether you need one special frame or a full series for a gallery, the process stays simple: enquire, consult, confirm, then collect or arrange delivery.
- Finalise the frame profile and mount colour
- Confirm collection, delivery or installation needs
- Approve any extra work such as repairs or glass replacement
