How collections are arranged from Parkhurst
Finished orders are normally collected from our Parkhurst studio once the framing is complete and checked. When your order is ready, our team will confirm the collection window and any handling notes, especially for large pieces, glass fronts or delicate mounts. If you are collecting on behalf of someone else, please bring the order details so we can release the correct item without delay.
For busy periods, it helps to arrive in a vehicle with enough boot space or a flat load area. Long frames, mirrors and oversized artwork need to lie flat wherever possible. If you are unsure whether your car will take the piece safely, ask us to check the dimensions before you come in.
- Check the finished size before collection day
- Bring a blanket, cardboard or non-slip mat for the journey
- Keep frames away from loose tools, parcels and shopping bags
- Use two people for wider or heavier items
Local delivery across Johannesburg and nearby areas
We arrange local delivery for customers in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand, Sandton and Rosebank, depending on the size and quantity of the order. Delivery is also available to selected locations in Cape Town and Durban by arrangement for larger projects, gallery work or multiple frames. This is useful for clients who are framing for offices, exhibitions, apartments, or homes with limited parking and access.
Delivery is planned around the item size, the route and access at the destination. If there are stairs, tight passages, boom gates or lift restrictions, please mention this early so we can plan the handling properly. On jobs with glass, mirrors or extra-large canvases, carefull handling matters more than speed.
- Parkhurst and nearby Johannesburg suburbs
- Pretoria, Midrand, Sandton and Rosebank service areas
- Selected deliveries to Cape Town and Durban
- Gallery and multi-frame deliveries on request
Packing finished frames for safe travel
Each framed piece should be packed to avoid pressure on the corners, the face and the hanging fittings. In humid areas such as coastal Durban, we pay extra attention to paper backing, mounts and seal points. For travel across Gauteng in summer or during load-shedding disruptions, a frame should not be left in a hot car for long periods, because heat can affect adhesives, glazing and canvas tension.
We recommend keeping artwork upright for only the shortest part of the journey, and flat where possible. If a piece has fragile glazing, a deep frame profile or a floating mount, it should be secured so it cannot slide. Never rest heavy items on top of a finished frame, even for a short trip.
- Leave protective wrapping on until you reach the final room
- Do not place frames directly against sharp metal or rough timber
- Avoid wet surfaces, open windows and strong sun during transport
- Keep installation hardware separate so it does not scratch the finish
What to expect for mirrors, canvases and oversized work
Mirrors and stretched canvases often need different handling from standard framed prints. Large mirrors are heavier and more breakable, while canvas pieces need support so the stretcher bars do not twist. If the order includes a mirror framing service, mount cutting or gallery hanging work, we will explain the best way to move it before it leaves the studio.
Oversized work may need a tailgate vehicle, van or second person to load and unload. Where access is tight, we can advise on the best entry point and whether the piece should go in before other furniture or fittings. This makes a big difference when moving into apartments, offices or gallery spaces with narrow lift access.
- Mirrors need extra corner and edge protection
- Canvas pieces must not be pressed against hard surfaces
- Very large frames should be measured against doorways before dispatch
- For gallery installations, confirm the hanging wall and fixings in advance
Repairs, reframing and return visits
If you are bringing back a frame for glass replacement, reframing or repair, please carry it in the same condition in which it left your premises, if possible. Remove loose wall hooks, picture wire that has come adrift, and any fragile ornaments before travel. For damaged items, a photo sent through the enquiry form helps us assess what needs attention before the item reaches the studio.
We regularly assist customers who need an old frame adjusted to fit a new image, or who want to re-use a frame with a fresh mount and backing. Returned items are checked on arrival, then booked in for the next available workshop slot. If there is damage from transit, tell us right away so we can inspect the frame and advise on repair options.
- Bring the original artwork and frame together where possible
- Keep broken glass wrapped and separate from the frame
- Label the piece if it is part of a larger set or series
- Allow extra time for inspection on returned jobs
Delivery for galleries, offices and bulk orders
For galleries, interior projects and business orders, we can coordinate delivery in batches so the pieces arrive in the right sequence. This is useful for exhibition hanging, office fit-outs, reception areas and hospitality spaces where several frames must be installed on the same day. We can also align delivery with collection from the Parkhurst studio if you are replacing older work or updating a wall display.
When ordering multiple frames, it helps to group sizes and finishes together early in the process. That reduces handling, simplifies labelling and makes installation quicker on site. If your building has municipal access rules, security sign-in or limited delivery hours, let us know before the order is scheduled.
- Suitable for galleries, offices, homes and retail spaces
- Helpful for multi-frame or repeat orders
- Can be coordinated with installation and hanging requirements
- Best arranged in advance for controlled access buildings
